Grade 7 Pupil to perform at a Comedy Festival

CHARLESTON Trust Primary School grade 7 student, Arthur Chikanga is set to perform in this year's edition of the highly anticipated KwaNtuthu Comedy Festival slated for October, 25- 28 running under the theme "IT'S ON".

Arthur will open the curtains  for the Festival with his piece titled 'The Bond Child'.

Speaking to BANO NEWS,  Arthur's mentor and teacher, Trevor Mawaka said they discovered his talent through school Talent Shows.

"We do talent shows, so he used to present his comic acts on talent shows". 

"Comedy is something natural to him, He never struggles.It's been something he was doing.I only helped him with how to come up with scripts.He was scripting but it wasn't proper," said Mawaka. 

 KwaNtuthu Comedy Festival director Huberty 'MaForty' Ndlovu told BANO NEWS that Arthur's future as a stand up comedian looks bright.

"I have had an opportunity to watch and I believe he will be a great stand-up comedian as he grows, thus the need to nurture him at a young age". 

"Also one of our objectives is to Provide a platform for upcoming and seasoned performers to highlight their talent so it just makes sense to have such a young act," said Ndlovu. 

KwaNtuthu Comedy Festival is an annual festival which strives for an engaging, informative, and entertaining comedy industry in Zimbabwe

 and beyond.The festival sets itself to bring international attention to the city of Bulawayo through comedy and thus making the festival a tourist attraction.

This year's festival is supported by Culture Fund and European Union through the Creative2ACTIONs.
