Zim young creatives design tech system to aid education system

BY ANGELA MOYO

ZIMBABWEAN young creatives from the Bulawayo Junior City Council working closely with the Christian Brethren College (CBC) Robotics Club have made history in designing a computer system meant to help develop the educational system.

Four CBC students are behind the initiative where they developed a computer system that's under Artificial Intelligence (AI). The system reflects mainly on assisting students to engage on school work participation.

It was developed under robotics coding and determines, expression, age, gender and how the student's capability in studies whether he/she understood the concepts from the lectures or not.

The quadripatrite is exhibiting at the 61th edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) which kicked off on Tuesday. There are situated at the Bulawayo City Council (BCC) stand.

The group fits well with this year's ZITF theme "Continuous innovation, Global competitiveness”.

Speaking in an interview with BANO, CBC Head Researcher Imanathi Nkomo said while conducting the research, his main idea was on making the world a better place.

"Our main idea was and is to make the world a better place. Since we are in the new technology era where there are lots of things happening around us we thought of empowering our education system since most students are now involved in technology.

"We also developed this system after observing the un-improvement of certain aspects that were not much looked into in the education system", he said.

CBC Chief Engineer Rahil Bhavan said:

"Firstly we wanted to create a schooling friendly environment for students which can also apply for the teaching methods so that students can be more engaged in class."

Bulawayo Junior City Council town clerk Sash Wilson was also involved in this initiative along with the group's teacher Mr Samson Moyo.

Zimbabwe's educational system is taking huge strides and it is promising that the Vision 2030 mantra will be attained under the motto, "Leaving no man and no one behind."
