LEGENDARY poet Albert Nyathi is using his poetry talent to plough back into the community through facilitating a student poetry training at A&J Pre-school in Gwabalanda, Bulawayo.
Mr Albert Nyathi was training the students which are set to perform at the school's Sponsored Poetry event slated for 30 November this year. The training kicked off on Monday and ended today.
A&J Pre-School was founded in February 1993 by the late Jane Mukaronda and her friend who remained taking care of Business after her passing on in 1997, Mrs Agnes Sithole, and is set to celebrate it's 30th Anniversary with a poetry show.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Sponsored Poetry Event, the late Mrs Jane Mukaronda's son Nicholas Mukaronda said.
"We started here in 1993, so we are going to be celebrating our 30th Anniversary with a poetry event dubbed Sponsored Poetry, with this one we gave the students, parents and friends sponsor sheets, as we are fundraising for the renovation of our playing centre. For our poetry event to have visibility and be big, we asked legendary poet Albert Nyathi to come all the way from Harare and train our student that are going to perform at the Sponsored Poetry event," said Mukaronda
In an interview with BANO NEWS, one of the school's founding members Agnes Sithole who is turning 70 years old in September 22, highlighted that they founded the school because of the unconditional love that they had for children.
"We founded this school in February 1993, it was me and my late friend Jane Mukaronda. We opened the school because of the love we had for children. We registered the School with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education. My friend passed away in 1997 and for the past 26years l have been running the school with assistance from the late Mrs Jane Mukaronda's children".
"The big challenge we have is that we do not have anyone who fund us, we rely on Children's fees.We bought the children's playing equipment in 1993, it's now old and outdated so the aim of this Poetry event is fundraise and buy a new equipment at the same time celebrating our 30th Anniversary".
"We are also appealing to members of the public who can assist with cash or kind because we are trying to get our own premises. We have been renting in this church since 1993".
