A newly established charitable organisation, The Goodway Foundation, has pledged to bring hope and practical support to orphans and underprivileged children in communities struggling with poverty and limited access to basic resources.

Responding to what it describes as a “cry for help” from the community, the foundation says it is committed to assisting vulnerable children, particularly those who lack essential items needed for education and daily living. Guided by the belief that “blessed is the hand that gives than the one that receives,” the organisation aims to serve as a catalyst for positive change.

At the heart of its work is a vision to create a world where every orphaned child has access to love, care, education, and opportunities to thrive. Its mission focuses on providing comprehensive support and resources that empower children to overcome adversity and pursue their dreams.

The organisation operates on key values that include compassion, integrity, respect, and collaboration. These principles, it says, shape its interactions with communities and ensure transparency and accountability in its operations while fostering partnerships that enhance its impact.

Speaking to this publication, the organisation’s Chief Executive Officer Amanda Mpofu said the initiative is driven by personal experience and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by disadvantaged children.

“My passion comes from seeing the need in the community. I grew up in rural areas where we would walk 4 to 5 kilometres to school, sometimes without shoes, even in winter or during the rainy season. That experience inspired me to step in and help,” said Mpofu.

The foundation is particularly concerned about children who continue to attend school without basic necessities such as shoes and adequate learning materials. It warns that such conditions often contribute to school dropouts, limiting opportunities for a better future.

“Our aim is to advance the rights and well-being of orphans and vulnerable children so that they do not drop out of school simply because they lack resources,” the CEO added.

The Goodway Foundation says it will focus on mobilising resources and working with communities to ensure that children remain in school and are supported both academically and socially.

As it begins its outreach programmes, the organisation is calling on well-wishers, partners, and stakeholders to join hands in supporting its mission to uplift the lives of vulnerable children and build stronger, more inclusive communities.
