The uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK Party) has removed Bongani Mncwango from his position as Secretary-General, less than a year after he was appointed to the role.
The party confirmed the decision during a briefing in Durban, announcing that Mncwango would be replaced by Sibonelo Nomvalo, who currently serves on Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee.
Mncwango was appointed Secretary-General in August last year following the removal of Floyd Shivambu from the same position. His appointment came during a period of leadership changes within the party, which is led by former South African president Jacob Zuma.
The MK Party has experienced several leadership shake-ups since its formation, with multiple high-profile figures being removed or replaced in key positions as the organisation seeks to stabilise its structures.
The party has not yet provided detailed reasons for Mncwango’s removal but confirmed that Nomvalo will assume the administrative leadership role with immediate effect.
The development marks the latest leadership change within the MK Party as it continues to restructure its top leadership.
