THE Zimbabwe National Organization of Associations of Residents Trust(ZNOART) Bulawayo provincial Chairman, Ryan Mpofu has urged Bulawayo residents to come in their numbers and be part of this year's Bulawayo Big Spring Cleaning Campaign slated for October, 1-7.
The clean up campaign is aimed at restoring the City of Bulawayo to it's former glory and to assist towards achieving the City's vision of a leading, smart and transformative city status by 2024.
Mpofu told BANO NEWS that it is so important for Bulawayo residents to be part of this clean up campaign as they will be doing this for themselves.
"Our city is in a bad state, in terms of waste, not because the City is failing but as a result of our own making as the residents"
"As you know that this Big Spring Cleaning is something that is done yearly, we are saying this time around, let all of us come together; residents, churches, Companies, families, individuals, and be part of this very important activity whose aim really is to clean our city.We are cleaning our city for ourself, so that we have a better place to live in.lmagine the way it is dirty in the city, we might end up having cholera outbreaks and all," said Mpofu
The Big Spring Cleaning campaign will kick off with a "Cleaning and Kick off event" slated for tomorrow at Small City Hall steps. The ceremony will be graced by his Worship Mayor David Coltart and the Minister of State for Provincial and Devolution Affairs for Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Hon Judith Ncube.
"As ZNOART we are encouraging the residents to participate in the clean up campaign, stop Littering and comply with the by-laws.Let's follow the "Re-Use, Reduce and Recycle" concept, once that concept is followed then it will be so easy for us to achieve our vision of a smarter city by 2024.That concept is very important, let's use it to make Bulawayo a better place"
