BULAWAYO TEAMS BOW OUT OF CHIBUKU

Bulawayo based football teams have all been eliminated from the country's biggest tournament called the Chibuku Super cup following the latest exit by Highlanders yesterday.


Chibuku Super cup tournament is played by all football teams that ply their trade in the topflight league and attract large crowds. 


In what has been an exciting round two of the Chibuku tournament filled with pulse raising moments only Black Rhinos FC won inside 90mins of the play edging Chicken Inn 2-1 after a historic comeback. 


The army side who have not been doing good in the domestic league have since surprised it's fans by eliminating big teams in the tournament such as Manica Diamonds and Chicken Inn. 


Highlanders who seemed to be the last hope to bring the Chibuku Super Cup in Bulawayo where eliminated by Caps United in a match that was settled with penalties after they drew 2-2 however CapsUnited walked away with bragging rights. 


Caps United Head Coach Lloyd Chitembwe applauded the display by both teams and highlighted that such a Derby must always meet it's expectations. 


"It was a very good game of football, we did control the first half and it's only the second half that they came back stronger. It was also obvious that the game was going to be decided by penalties".


He also applauded the sub goalkeeper for stepping up during the most important moment of the tournament. 


"The substitution was good we knew we had good quality, it was all down to Ashley Rayners and when Bosso play against Caps united it also give a special game to the people", he said. 


Defending Champions Bulawayo Chiefs were eliminated during the first round by Highlanders. 


The quarter finals saw only Black Rhinos emerging victorious inside 90mins while all the matches had to be decided through penalties.


Another Harare Derby awaits as Dynamos will face Caps United in the semi final while army side Black Rhinos is set to face red hot Ngezi Platinum stars.


The Chibuku Super cup is now vacant to two main destinations which are either Mhondoro home to Ngezi Platinum or Harare which is home to Black Rhinos, Dynamos and Caps United as the 4 teams will battle it out in the semi final.
