Local artists in Bulawayo have joined the rest of the world fight against breast cancer through awareness campaigns and encouragement messages to women suffering with the and the communities.
Speaking during an interview Prince Zulu popularly known as "Jews DJ" encouraged fellow artists to maximise the fight against the deadly virus through different channels of communication both verbal and non verbal.
"I do believe as artists we have not done much to raise awareness for breast cancer, we have to do more as artists besides performing at these events how about we have initiatives, a specifically allocated amount/fund that goes to any organisation or foundation that oversee with breast cancer awareness".
"We must have a platform to inform that a certain artist has donated towards breast cancer awareness, it can be money, food, clothes among other donations. We must not only limit ourselves in doing breast cancer awareness campaigns in the month of October but it will be wise if we can do it all year round as a constant reminder", said Prince Zulu.
The month of October is widely known for Breast Cancer awareness campaigns which are meant to increase awareness about the deadly disease. The initial goal is to get as many people as possible to be involved in the raising awareness and funds to help support life saving and changing support.
Mzilikazi bred artist "Lights Out" challenged that people should be equipped with adequate knowledge about Breast Cancer in order for everyone to participate in the campaign.
"We need to read more and be active in issues that affect the global community . Women are dying from across the world because of lack of knowledge. There is need for a lot of awareness in that area", he said.
Lymon Moyo who is as know by his stage name "Lights Out" has been making waves through awareness campaigns against drug and substance abuse with his latest song titled "Mtoriro", a dangerous drug that continue to terrorise most youths in communities.
