CINEMA Society of Zimbabwe, the Organization behind the Zimbabwe Annual Film and Television Awards (ZAFTA) has announced the nominees for the first edition of the ZAFTAs, which are set to be held on December 2 at Wisdom City Church in Harare.
ZAFTA are annual awards which seeks to promote creativity, collaboration, and excellence in Zimbabwe's film and television industry.
Speaking to BANO NEWS, Cinema Society of Zimbabwe Secretary-General Richard Tentone highlighted that the Awards ceremony will be an event not to miss.
"We promise an unforgettable experience for all attendees. The black tie event will open with a glamorous red-carpet parade, followed by an awards ceremony complete with live musical entertainment"
"We are excited to showcase the best of Zimbabwean talent and to provide an opportunity for industry players to network, collaborate, and learn from each other"
Responding to whether the Awards have a category that honor and celebrate Zimbabwe's film and Television legends, Tentone said:
"We have lifetime achievement award and outstanding contribution awards. The judges will decide who and how many to award. It's an ongoing process and that should be done by the 10th of November"
One of the nominees who spoke to BANO NEWS, Tanaka Bradley Munyavhi who was nominated under the Outstanding TV Actor category couldn't hide his excitement and said this is a dream come true for him.
"Wow The spiritual actor says it's a dream come true being nominated with such great people.The moment l used to dream about even if l go for rehearsals walking from Mpopoma to town would just imagine myself saying if l would have a NAMA Award or Oscar how will l say my speech 4 years back, dream come in the year 2023 and this is sign from my God that Oscar will be the next.This nomination is a greatest achievement in my life.I still feel like I am dreaming."
"The nomination is not for me only, its for Bulawayo as l go and represent the city of kings in Sunshine city," said Munyavhi
