ZIMBABWE Republic Police (ZRP) have arrested two women from Old Pumula in Bulawayo for unlawful possession of dangerous drugs.
The two have been identified as Nokuthaba Sibanda (31) and Lindiwe Mhlanga (25).
In a Statement, ZRP Bulawayo Press and Public Relations officer Inspector Abednigo Ncube said that on the 4th November 2023, detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics Bulawayo received a tip off that the duo was in possession of dangerous drugs at Pumula Shops.
"Acting on the information, the detectives proceeded to the said place and they first located Nokuthaba Sibanda. A body search was done on her and a small transparent sachet with Methcathinone was recovered hidden in her blue overall hip pocket.The accused person was subsequently arrested, further searches were conducted on the accused and another small transparent sachet with Methcathinone was recovered precariously within her body.The recovered methcathinone weighed 1gram with a street value of US$6-00"
"The detectives again proceeded to Lindiwe Mhlanga’s place and located her, body search was done and a big transparent sachet packed with 6 small sachets containing Methcathinone was recovered hidden in her bra. The accused person was subsequently arrested. The recovered Methcathinone weighed 3grames with a street value of US$30-00," said Inspector Ncube.
Inspector Ncube expressed his gratitude and thanked the members of the public for working hand in hand with ZRP and assisting in bringing criminals to book.
"As the police we would like to express our gratitude to members of the public for their continued support in supplying us with tip offs that aid us in the execution of our duties and bringing criminals to book. It is important that as the community of Bulawayo we fight the scourge of drug abuse and illegal cultivation and selling of dangerous drugs by reporting any persons that are illegally dealing in dangerous drugs to the police."
