South African based multi Award winning songbird Esther Sibanda well known as Intombi Yabelungu believes that she was born to heal and giving hope to the hopeless through her music.
Intombi Yabelungu said this in an exclusive interview with Byo Arts News Online(BANO) where she was sharing her journey and experience as a musician.
"I am the voice of the voiceless, I was born to heal and give hope to the hopeless.I also use my music to evangelize and talk about different challenges that people face on a daily basis"
"To me music is an inborn thing.I used to sing in the church choir and at school, but I then started doing it professional in the year 2017 with a group called Ubuhle Bamangun," said Sibanda
The Nkayi born maskandi musician alluded that because of different challenges that they faced as Ubuhle Bamangun, the group later stopped doing music which later made her start singing alone as Intombi Yabelungu.
"In 2019 I started singing alone as Intombi Yabelungu. I released my debut Album titled Khona Kunzima.The Album was well received, I got Radio Interviews, Newspaper interviews and won 5 Awards"
Intombi Yabelungu went on to share some of the struggles that she faced in her journey as musician.
"One of the challenges I faced in my journey as a musician is the issue of funding, it's not yet paying enough and sometimes we struggle to record and other stuffs.Another thing is that as people based in South Africa we're recognized mostly this side, we haven't got enough recognition at home so we're trying by all means to organize Home Coming shows which we want to use as a way of selling our brands at home," she said
