Meli To Cycle 865 KM To Zimbabwe In A Drug Awareness Campaign

POPULAR South African based cyclist Meli Ndlovu is set to embark on a two day cycling journey from Johannesburg to Bulawayo in a bid to campaign against the escalating cases of drug abuse in the communities.

The long journey has been scheduled for departure date 18 December 2023 and arrival on 20 December 2023 covering a hovering distance of 865km by only cycling.

Speaking in an interview, Meli Ndlovu highlighted that illegal drugs have taken over the world causing untold harm to people in the societies.

"We would like to spread the word Drug Abuse Awereness (DAA)  to boys, girls, youths and elders to stay away from drugs which is killing your health system especially teenagers. We are advising each and everyone in the community, police and health care workers to spread the word everywhere to defeat the rising cases of drug abuse and we also encourage the community to immediately report any drug dealers around to the police.All together we can fight against drugs and help addicts",said Meli Ndlovu.

Last year Meli Ndlovu cycled from the neighbouring South Africa in an awareness campaign to educate schools on the viable use  of ordinary level study packs which was organised by Dingani publishers.

He is expected to depart Johannesburg on Monday 18 December and arrive in the city of kings on the 20th of December completing the 865KM distance using only a bicycle.

Drug abuse has become a serious cause of concern which has caught the attention of many prominent figures resulting to awareness campaigns in an attempt to help curb the escalating cases of drug abuse.

Recently the Government of Zimbabwe declared the situation a "national disaster" as reported cases doubled in numbers and artists such as Lights Out of Bulawayo and Killer T also joined the fight against drug abuse through message in music.
