Amanxeba TV series surprised their fans after scooping multiple awards at the first edition of the Zimbabwe Annual Film and Television Awards (ZAFTAs) that were held on the 2nd December in Harare.
The production scooped the Outstanding Directing for a TV Series, Outstanding Editing for a TV Series, Outstanding Actress(Donna N Odendaal)and the most Television series Award.
Speaking to BYO ARTS NEWS ONLINE, Amanxeba series Producer John Mabuyane couldn't hide his excitement on the achievement and he applauded the Cast and Crew for the job well done.
"We are greatful for such recognition, being the first drama series in the first edition of the ZAFTAs to be awarded the biggest number of awards has been historical. This recognition is for the hard work the cast and crew put over the years"
In an interview, legendary actor and Director Percy Soko who is the creative Director for the series said:
"We scooped 4 awards and it feels great to be recognised nationally"
Soko went on to share the breakdown of what the series is about.
"Well the tv series is about the scars amanxeba that people face on a daily basis, so it touches on girl child abuse, child marriages, adultery and the calling.Each character represents someone somewhere out there be it male, female, boy or girl," he said.
Calvin Madula and Dumi Nyongola are some of the Bulawayo artists that scooped awards at the ZAFTAs.
