Zimbabwe held it's 2023 harmonised elections on the 23 August 2023.The Mnangagwa led Zanu PF won the presidential race with 52%.
Fast-rising party Zimbabwe African National Congress (ZANC) led by Timothy Mncube contested in these elections& it was their first time to contest in an election since the party's formation in 2019.
ZANC had 5 house of Assembly candidates and 6 council candidates, all from Bulawayo.
It is not a secret that as a new party ZANC had no chance as most people in Matabeleland gave their votes to the Chamisa led CCC but what's interesting is the results for each ZANC candidate, good and promising results.
Commenting on the party's results, one of the party supporters by the name Andile Ncube said:
"We lost 2023 elections not because people didn't want to vote for us but because we were new in the race. After all our results are not so bad and come 2028 we're taking especially in Matabeleland. Our President Mr Timothy Mncube is the candidate to vote for in 2028.As a Country let's not keep on voting for the same people who failed us since 1980, it's time for change and ZANC is the only that might bring change in Zimbabwe"
ZANC President said his party is here to stay and 2028 they're coming back stronger and will also contest for the Presidential seat.
"The 2023 elections were controversial but we accepted them and we were not impressed with our party results, however that did not deter us, we have learnt from our mistakes and we will come back stronger"
"ZANC is here to stay and we are going to fight to make it to Parliament, what has happened in the past has taught us many lessons and we will work together to resolve them. Let us continue being United and working together towards making Zimbabwe great again," he said
Commenting on party members who just leave without notice or anything, Mncube said:
"We have noticed that some party members come and go without notice and we acknowledge our mistakes that might have led them to dessert us without warning. We are still a young party and still growing and will do better to keep our members. Some however do not come with unclear intentions and hence they leave without notice.
