THE organizers of the National Arts Merit Awards (Awards) have revealed that the nominees for the 22nd edition of the Awards will be announced this Friday, 9 February 2024.This includes the finalists of the Peoples’ Choice Award which were voted on by the people of Zimbabwe between 15 January and 1 February.
According to a statement released by Jacaranda Culture & Media Corporation(JCMC) recently, a total of 78,000 votes were submitted for the People's Choice Award nomination process.
The nominees reveal will be broadcast LIVE on the NAMA Awards Facebook page at exactly 12 midday.
Running under the theme #KWA22, this year's edition will be held on the 24th February at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair in Bulawayo.
NAMA organizers are promising a bigger, amazing and better edition.
"It has been an incredible journey to get to this point.Working with artists from all over the country to bring this event together has not been easy, but we are grateful for their cooperation and high levels of commitment to uplifting the arts in Zimbabwe.The Nation of Zimbabwe is in for an amazing show!"
This year's edition will be graced by performances from Bulawayo's finest artists like legendary poet Albert Nyathi, Calvin Mangena, Everton Mlalazi, Msiz' Kay, Bhekiwe, NoluntuJ, MJ Sings, Ngoma Ingoma and many more.
Rehearsals for the event started in December with artists coming in batches for recording and concept development. Stage rehearsals and choreography started in January, while full show rehearsals started in the first week of February.
National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) is a set of annual awards granted by the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) in recognition of outstanding achievements in the arts and culture.The Awards were formed in the year 2002.
