MZILIKAZI-MAKOKOBA football loving fans are in for a treat after Mzilikazi FC confirmed their return following a one year stinct in exile citing financial challenges.
The 2022 Bulawayo province division two champions failed to pitch up for the Southern region division one after securing an automatic qualification which broke the hearts of many followers.
Unfortunately fans will have to wait a little longer to watch their favourite team play in the division one league since they will be plying their trade in the Bulawayo province Under 20 league.
Speaking in an interview the administrator Mayfield Daka confirmed that Mzilikazi FC will be taking part in one of the lower leagues this season and highlighted that the purpose of the club is to identify talent curb the escalating cases of drug abuse through sport.
"It is a community development of our youth through sport. Keeping the boys out the streets and away from drug abuse and giving them the opportunity for exposure to the football world, now that football is a career they can also earn a living through football", said Mr Daka.
When Mzilikazi FC became defunct in 2023 most of the players were easily incorporated by other football teams for their services and have since settled.
Former Mzilikazi FC players who have since settled well elsewhere include speedy winger Denzel "Bhonono" Mudlambanje to Bulawayo Chiefs, captain Methembe Sibanda,
Brian Ncube both with talen vision,
Sibusiso Zondo, John Siameja CIWU
Brian Bhebhe Binga FC, and
Awakhile who is with ZS Academy in South Africa.
