COLE Palmer's brilliance inspired Chelsea FC to a 4-3 win over Manchester United at the Stamford Bridge on Thursday night.
The Blues drew first blood in the fourth minute from Connor Calagher's exquisite strike, Palmer then instilled more misery on the Reds on the 19th minute from the penalty spot as he cooly converted and sent Cameroonian international goalkeeper(André Onana) the wrong way.
Manchester United then scored two quick goals inside 5 minutes to restore parity off the boots of Argentine teenage sensation Alejandro Ganarcho (34 mins) and Bruno Fernandes (39minute).
As the second half began the Reds recharged their tempo and took the game to their opponents piling more pressure on the hosts and their efforts paid off as they completed the comeback from Garnacho again who completed his brace.
The Reds safeguarded their lead for 99 minutes as they foresaw three precious points from the bridge, before Palmer broke the hearts of the Reds fans with his two goals in quick succession to complete the comeback over the visitors in the 100 and 101st minutes.
The Blues'win lifted them to 10th position whereas Manchester United's hopes of a top four finish were dented as they remained rooted on sixth position.
Blues gaffer Mauricio Pochettino was elated after the sumptuous victory as he and praised his players'never die spirit.
“It was amazing. We deserved it, we were the better team. It was a fair result. We kept believing and kept saying to the players that there were two minutes left and to keep belief that we can the goal. It was really important for us. A must win game” Pochettino said
On the other hand Manchester united Manager Eric Ten Hag blamed his players for complacency as he fumed over the errors they did.
“Players have to make right decisions. What frustrates me is that we started the game poor, with individual errors. But I had a feeling we dominating.”
The Blues are away to Sheffield United next week whereas the Reds host log-leaders Liverpool at the Old Trafford on Sunday.
