BULAWAYO giants Highlanders FC are eyeing maximum points against recently promoted Chegutu Pirates in a match that has been scheduled for Sunday at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo.
The match has been described as the battle of "black and white" by the Chegutu Pirates family who seem to imitate the traditional black and white colour.
Speaking during a press interview, Highlanders Head coach Kelvin Kaindu highlighted the positive attitude within the camp and reflected the challenges of facing recently promoted teams.
"Players that sustained minor injuries against Telone FC I Gweru are back at training, it becomes very tricky to face teams that have been recently promoted into the topflight league and Chegutu Pirates fairly doing well."
"It is a bit too early to talk about progress but I think credit is due to be given where it is showing that our two strikers got in the score sheet last week and our midfielders are starting to assist and score goals, we don't want just to rely only on our strikers but if you have a game and two of your strikers manage to score in one game I think it's an improvement", said Kaindu.
Amahlolanyama have been lethal infront of goal managing to score 6 goals in their last 4 games, conceding only 2 goals and salvaging 10 points.
Striker Lynoth Sonjy Chikuhwa who struggled to find the net last season has already registered his name on the scoresheet twice this season with only 4 matches played.
Coach Kelvin Kaindu also gave credit to faithful Highlanders supporters for their unwavering love and unity.
"Highlanders cannot do without the fans, they are a driving force we enjoyed the support they gave us in Gweru they came in numbers, we are hoping the crowd is to be there and keep on motivating the team to keep pushing", said coach Kaindu.
Currently on position 13th in the log Northen region champions Chegutu pirates have been enjoying their first few games played so far in the domestic topflight league have managed to salvage 1 win, 1 draw and two defeats.
In their previous match Chegutu pirates made history after claiming all 3 points against Greenfuel which was also their first win and first goal of the top flight league.
Elsewhere log leaders FC Platinum will seek to maintain a fine start as they host Caps United at Mandava stadium. Champions Ngezi Platinum are away to Greenfuel while Harare giants Dynamos play host to Bulawayo Chiefs who are notorious of disappointing the glamour boys.
