Butholezwe Ntini, a young talented songster from the City of Kings and Queens, recently released a single titled ‘Izigwenxa Zomlomo’ that features songstress, Thandi Dhlana.
Izigwenxa Zomlomo is a song that speaks to forgiveness and people being mindful of what they say to each other during arguments.
The song also addresses Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and challenges the prevailing notion that only the man is always condemned as the aggressor. It highlights the complexity of certain situations where both parties can be at fault, promoting a more nuanced understanding.
The collabo came about when Butholezwe performed at the late Trust ‘NguFidelis’ Nyathi’s Memorial Service early this year and Thandy Dhlana loved his performance and they went on to perform Ex Mile’s ‘Bangaxabani’ together at the same Memorial.
The creatives who were at the event requested a collabo after their epic performance and the pair started working from there.
Butholezwe stated that the song is doing really well on social media and on radio.
“We have a music video shoot coming up in South Africa. Prepare for fireworks because it’ll be played everywhere including Channel O, Mzansi Magic and MTV Base Africa”.
The song has been performed live during Thandy Dhlana’s VIVO performance sometime last month and on the 29th of March, they also performed it live during a Jazz Night in Famona alongside the Band of Misfits.
Butholezwe and Thandy Dhlana's piece speaks to In the importance of collaboration in music circles.
When artists from diverse backgrounds come together, their unique perspectives and skills intertwine, giving birth to a tapestry of sounds that captivates audiences and pushes the boundaries of musical expression.
