PREPARATIONS for the highly anticipated third edition of the #ForTheCity hip-hop event are currently in full swing.

#ForTheCity represents a dynamic movement that seeks to honour and celebrate the vibrant hip-hop culture while introducing the local community to the immense talent within their own city.

The event boasts an exceptional lineup of DJs and live performances, showcasing the best of the local hip-hop scene.

At its core, #ForTheCity aims to revitalise the local hip-hop scene by providing a platform for emerging artists to exhibit their skills, while also serving as an avenue for established musicians to unveil their latest bodies of work.

The event will take place on April 13th at its perennial home, the esteemed StopOver Bar and Restaurant.

Dubbed 'New School Hip-hop Sessions,' this edition will spotlight, celebrate, and showcase the rising stars of the hip-hop game, as they represent the future of the genre.

Lovers of the rhymes, metaphors, and bars game should brace themselves to be enthralled by the captivating performances of headlining acts such as Fuel, Kgotso, Oxzy, Renzo Lax, and JKing as they take the stage and leave an indelible mark on the event.

Michelle ‘Star Michy’ Banda, the brains behind the #ForTheCity Movement told this publication that the preparations are at an advanced stage.

“So far, so good because we now have systems in place so it’s easier”, she added.

Renowned emcee, POY's Proud Of You Foundation, Feel G, Amany Muzik, Certifyd Audio and PineApple Media are the key partners and sponsors.

Star Michy encouraged creatives and hip-hop fanatics alike to attend this edition as admission is free.

She also promised new material to emerge.

“Expect a new collaboration that’s bound to set the roof on fire," she said.
