TABLE toppers Highlanders FC is set to face struggling champions Ngezi Platinum Stars on Saturday at the Baobab stadium in Mhondoro.

Bosso march into match day six with 4 wins, 1draw, 0 defeats, hovering a total of 9 goals, conceding only 2 goals amassing a total of 13 points from the five games played.

Champions Ngezi Platinum Stars currently seat on position 12 with 1 win, 2 defeats, 2 draws, having scored only 2 goals conceding 4 after playing the opening first five games of the 2024 season.

The Mhondoro based outfit will be without the services of former Bulawayo Chiefs forward Obriel Chirinda who is yet to kick the ball this season due to contract battles between Ngezi Platinum and Dynamos.

Speaking during a press conference Highlanders head coach Kelvin Kaindu highlighted that their opponents should not be undermined and added that his team is still in the building phase.

"We don't want to be encouraged by the results but as I said we are in the building process, we don't want to shift our focus but we want to take every game serious".

"It becomes tricky they are the defending champions, they have got all the resources that they need to defend the championship it's unfortunate. We have so much respect for them.

Kaindu also added that striker Brighton" MaNinja" Ncube is still work in progress despite his recent form and gave a brief injury update.

"We don't want him to lose focus we want him to gain confidence with the abilities that he has hit and also work on his weaknesses. I've seen what he's capable of doing, he has scored 3 goals and can even score more, we are still working with him".

"I think we are all okay from the injury of last game that we played, everyone is available for selection we still have a session before we can select the traveling squad", added the Highlanders coach.

Highlanders are currently the best scoring team in the premier league with 9 goals from five matches followed by Simba Bhora who have 8 goals.

Elswhere former champions FC Platinum face an ambitious side Arenel Movers who have been notorious for holding big teams at Luveve Stadium.

Dynamos continue to search for form as they travel to 3rd placed Simba Bhora who are on top of their game and separated by only 3 points from leaders Highlanders.
