LOCAL artists are working hard trying to make ends meet in their music works hoping that one day they will bear fruits from their labour, this week on this segment, On The Spotlight, we feature Teekay-G.
Bulawayo based sensational dancehall artist Teekay-G promised that he will be dropping two surprise tracks to his fans this year, after he released Summer Time last year, the video to the solo song is yet to be released.
Teekay-G with his motto "Hit-after-hit" has managed to manipulate fans of the music industry on the local scene that he is one of the best after releasing hits every year for the past few years which include Ama sports, Ngangingafuni Befe, Bhawa among others.
Some might wonder who this Teekay-G is, in this segment the scribe will unfold as much information about the Pumula based dancehall chanter.
Information gathered by this gazette indicates that Teekay-G, is an offshoot of the wrecked Rollex Crew which was made up of artists from Pumula.
He went solo in 2018 and released his first single track "Uchery olipantsula" which received a fair response from the audience as well as getting airplay on some of the local radio stations.
He went on to collaborate with a maskandi artist Msheli wentombi on a song Ematopeni which seemed to have open doors for the lad, after it was voted song of the year at the Pumula Royal Arts and Community Awards (PRACA) in 2020.
This came as a motivation for the 25 year old Teekay-G as he pressed the buttons harder, he dropped a massive hit song Ngangingafuni Befe which was voted the best music video in Pumula in 2021.
Teekay-G saw it fit to test deeper waters, he introduced a Look-North policy in his musical journey as he started to work with renowned music producers the Chillspot family, Level Ribhe and Dj Fantan in the northern part of the country, Harare
In his attempts he came up with a hit song featuring Harare based artist Crazy E, Bhawa which saw him collecting another accolade last year for the best Dance Artist.
Bhawa has received airplays on local radio stations earning Teekay-G more popularity in the music industry.
The lad continued to strive for the best as he featured on various medley riddim which include Bodyslam 2 produced by the famous PTK as well as Nguva YaChivhayo riddim produced by Levels.
The multi award winning dancehall chanter is currently working on visuals for his latest hit song Summer time.
In an interview with this publication, Teekay-G said,
"I am currently working on a music video of Summer time which features many local artists and comedians like Zex Mdawini,Bethwel wabantwana, Sporo and Mandla da comedian"
"The shoot will take place in Bulawayo and is expecting to be released soon alongside two single tracks which are set to be released anytime from now.
