BULAWAYO City FC collected maximum points against a Highlanders FC development side in the opening match of the Southern Region division one league at Whitecity stadium in Bulawayo.
The municipality led outfit Bulawayo City FC returns to the Southern region division one league following its absence last year after a massive team overhaul thereby returning with a youthful talented side thirsting for glory.
Speaking during an interview Bulawayo city coach Voster Chitema described the first game as a fair game that could have ended in a stalemate.
"The match was balanced. They had their chances we also had our chances. The fairest result would have been a draw".
He also added the challenges encountered and the aim of the mega project.
"Yes we encountered problems after they changed personnel and managed to equalize.
Our aims for the season remain the same junior development. With one eye on avoiding the chop, Relegation",said coach Chitema.
It was Bulawayo city which found the back of the net early in the first half through forward Mbongeni Minenzhi as the municipality side took control of the game until halftime.
In the second half Bosso 90 equalised through Zibusiso Mahlangu who seemed to have snatched a point for his team.
However a tactical second half substitution from Bulawayo city meant that the Bosso 90 defenders were in for a dance as the municipality led outfit managed to salvage a winner through young Malcolm Daka's goal towards the final whistle.
Malcolm Daka is also the son of the legendary maestro Mayfield Daka and grand son to the late Barry Daka.
Elsewhere a star studded Adachi FC received a shock 1-0 defeat to Zimbabwe Saints courtesy of the first half goal from former CIWU striker Keith. Adachi FC surprisingly failed to register a single shot on target.
The biggest recorded wins were from ZPC Hwange who won 4-1 to Mosi Rovers while Mainline also picked maximum points from a 4-1 win against Ajax Hotspurs.
Newcomers Zebra Revolution also had a bad day in office as DRC United salvaged all points infront of home fans, Vic Falls City entered division one in style through a victory against Casmyn.
Army side Indlovu Iyanyathela also won 1-0 against Jordan FC as Talen Vision shared spoils against Nkayi United in a 1-1 all draw.
