YESTERDAY the Member of Parliament for Nkulumane Constituency Hon. Desire Moyo joined by the executives of three key development committees in the constituency paid a significant visit to Nkulumane Police Station.
The tour was part of Honorable Moyo's Constituency Familiarization Tour(CFT), an initiative which kicked off with a visit at Mabhukudwana and Nketa Primary School early last week. The purpose of this initiative is to establish a direct link between the local community and the representatives in charge of spearheading development.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Nkulumane Police Station tour, Hon. Moyo said:
"The aim of this visit was to foster a collaborative effort between the police force and the constituency's committees to design and implement strategic measures to combat crime and safeguard the community. This engagement proved fruitful, as both parties reaffirmed their commitment to working together to make Nkulumane a safer and more secure place for all."
The Nkulumane Police Station Deputy Officer In Charge outlined some of the challenges that they face as a Station with major one being the issue of transport, which makes it hard for them to carry out their duties on time.
"We have a challenge of transport, that's our main challenge as a station. It is our hope that now the Member of Parliament knows, they can assist, in most cases fuel, it's a challenge. Recently our vehicle was not on the road because of some challenges, so working together here and there we can assist each other and help so that we combat crime."
Another challenge affecting them is the issue of water as they do not have a borehole or water tanks in the Station.
The road to a clean, safe & better Nkulumane is underway. This tour signifies Hon. Moyo's commitment to lead with a hands-on, grassroots approach, ensuring that every community member's voice is heard and their concerns are addressed.Through this direct engagement, Hon. Moyo aims to facilitate a truly participatory democracy, where citizens are empowered to shape the future of Nkulumane.
The development committees, working in tandem with Hon. Moyo, play a pivotal role in the success of this mission, as they bring a diverse range of expertise and insights to the table.
In his Closing remarks at the meeting, Hon. Moyo said:
"We are going to have more meetings of this nature and to achieve our goal of building a communicative and participatory Community in a few months to come we are going to have the Nkulumane Constituency Crime Indaba, an open discussion between the police and the residents," said Hon. Moyo
