THE 22nd annual King Mzilikazi Commemorations are set to take place on September 7, 2024, at Mhlahlandlela, the king's last known capital, located about 20km from Bulawayo along Old Gwanda Road.

This year's event promises to be a spectacle to behold, with a large number of participants expected from all corners of the country and beyond.

In an exclusive interview, Corrence Mkhosi-Ncube, the Chief of Female Warriors (Induna yeButho labomama), shared her excitement about the upcoming event.

"This year's celebration will be completely different from the last editions. We expect a large number of participants from all over the Mthwakazi Nation, as well as from outside the country," she said.

The theme of the event is "zazi imvelaphi yakho ukuze uhlomele ikusasa lakho," which means "know your roots and showcase your cultural regalia."

This year's celebration will feature a showcase of the Mthwakazi Nation's rich culture and identity, with traditional dances, izimbongi, and a grand parade of amatshitshi from as far as South Africa, Plumtree, Lupane, and Bulawayo.

The Mthwakazi kaMzilikazi Cultural Association (MCCA) from Bulawayo, together with The Task Force Team under the office of The Mzilikazi Royal House in South Africa, have been working tirelessly to ensure the success of the event. According to Corrence, the organizers are expecting guests from neighboring countries and overseas, with similar celebrations also taking place in America, UK, and Dubai.

Corrence emphasized that the event belongs to the entire Mthwakazi Nation, and no one will be left behind. "We don't expect anyone from Mthwakazi to say 'we were not invited.' Only posters and adverts are done to motivate and remind the nation about this important event," she said.

The King Mzilikazi Commemorations are a significant event in the Mthwakazi Nation's calendar, marking the life and legacy of the great king who founded the nation. The event is a celebration of the nation's culture, identity, and heritage, and serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving and promoting the nation's rich cultural heritage.

The public is invited to attend and participate in the celebrations, which promise to be an unforgettable experience.
