By NOKWAZI KHUMALO(BANO REPORTER)

Residents of Nkulumane are abuzz with excitement following the successful Vital Life Health Fair held on August 31, 2024, at the Nkulumane Complex.

This initiative, organized by Vital Life Medical Centre in collaboration with Corporate 24, Interpath, Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council(ZNFPC), National Blood Services Zimbabwe, Council for the Blind Zimbabwe and Population Solutions for Health, offered a wealth of free health services to the community.

The health fair aimed to provide essential medical services to residents aged 18 to 80, focusing on accessibility and raising awareness about important health issues. Various medical centers participated, offering an array of services, including:

- Free Doctor Consultations

- Free Cervical Cancer Screenings

- Free Vision Screening (Eye Testing)

- HIV Testing and Counseling

- Blood Donation Drive

- Family Planning Services

Community members expressed their gratitude for the initiative. As one local resident noted, "This fair was a game-changer for us. Many people cannot afford these essential services, but today we were able to get checked up without the fear of costs."

Attendees also took advantage of informative sessions, where healthcare professionals provided guidance on managing vital health concerns. Services included blood pressure checks, diabetes screenings, and BMI assessments—all crucial in promoting a healthier lifestyle within the community.

Furthermore, the fair addressed visual health issues, ensuring participants had access to eye testing services and options for corrective lenses, filling an essential gap in local healthcare resources.

The collaborative efforts behind the Vital Life Health Fair highlight a commitment to improving community health and wellness. Residents left the event not only relieved but empowered with valuable knowledge on maintaining their health.

As the Nkulumane community continues to thrive, events like these demonstrate the importance of accessible healthcare and the positive impact of working together for the greater good.
