HARARE - In a major coup for the Zimbabwe African National Congress (ZANC), veteran politician Adelaide Mhlanga has returned to the party after a brief stint with the Freezim party.

The move is seen as a significant boost to ZANC's electoral chances in the 2028 polls, with Mhlanga set to play a key role in the party's campaign efforts.

According to ZANC President Timothy Mncube, Mhlanga's return is a testament to the party's commitment to inclusivity, tolerance, and democratic values. "We are overjoyed to welcome Adelaide back to the ZANC family," said Mncube. "Her wealth of experience, passion, and dedication will be instrumental in driving our party's progress in the days ahead."

Mhlanga will assume the critical role of Deputy National Organizing Secretary, leveraging her exceptional organizing skills, grassroots connections, and political acumen to help mobilize and galvanize the party's machinery. This key position will enable her to contribute significantly to the party's shared quest for political and economic empowerment.

The timing of Mhlanga's return could not be more opportune, with the 2028 elections fast approaching. Her wealth of experience in grassroots mobilization and campaign strategy will be invaluable in helping ZANC push the message of its leader, Timothy Mncube, to every corner of Zimbabwe.

"Timothy Mncube is the leader Zimbabwe needs to take the country forward," said Mncube. "With Adelaide on board, we are now even more confident of our ability to crystallize the hopes and dreams of the Zimbabwean people into a convincing victory at the polls."

The entire ZANC family has extended a hearty welcome to Mhlanga, wishing her every success in her new role. As the party gears up for the election, Mhlanga's return is seen as a major morale booster, consolidating ZANC's position as the leading force for democratic change and people-centered development in Zimbabwe.
