BULAWAYO, ZIMBABWE - SEPTEMBER 10, 2024
By BANO Reporter
Zimbabwean schools reopens their doors today, marking the beginning of the third and final term of the academic year.
The streets of Bulawayo's central business district were abuzz with activity yesterday as parents and students rushed to complete last-minute preparations, snapping up school supplies and uniforms in a frenzy of excitement and anxiety.
For Grade 7, O'Level, and A'Level students, this term will be a make-or-break period as they gear up for their final exams, with the weight of expectations from teachers, parents, and themselves placing an unrelenting burden on their shoulders.
But amidst the uncertainty, many students are exuding confidence, buoyed by their dedication to studying and attending extra lessons during the holidays.
"I've been preparing for this moment for months.I sacrificed my holidays to study and attend extra lessons, and I'm convinced that hard work will pay off. I want to make my parents proud and set a good foundation for my future," said an O'Level student who spoke to BANO NEWS.
The student's parent, Mrs. Moyo, echoed her daughter's sentiments, highlighting the importance of a strong support system in these trying times.
"As parents, we've always encouraged our daughter to strive for excellence. We've been with her every step of the way, attending parent-teacher conferences, and helping her with her studies. We just want her to give it her all and make the most of this opportunity."
Not all students, however, are feeling the heat.
"I'm not too fazed about the exams, to be honest.I mean, I've put in the work, but I also made sure to take breaks and enjoy my holidays. I'm ready to give it my all this term, but I'm not going to let the pressure get to me," said a Matopo High School student.
As the term gets underway, teachers and parents alike are urging students to stay focused and commit to their studies, with the clock ticking down to the final exams which kicks off next month. With every moment counting, students will need to put in the hard work if they hope to achieve their academic goals and set themselves up for success in the years to come.
The third term will be a whirlwind of activity, with students juggling academic commitments, extracurricular activities, and social lives. But as they take their first steps into the unknown, one thing is certain - this term will be a defining moment in their young lives, one that will shape their futures and forge their characters.
