Starlink Internet Now Available in Zimbabwe: A New Era for Connectivity

By MKHOKHELI ZIBENGWA

Harare, Zimbabwe –In a significant boost to digital connectivity in Zimbabwe, Starlink, the satellite internet service founded by Elon Musk, has officially launched its services in the country.

This exciting announcement was made via a post on X (formerly Twitter) by Elon Musk, highlighting the availability of high-speed, low-latency internet access throughout Zimbabwe.

The arrival of Starlink comes after a pivotal step taken by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in May, when he approved the licensing of the service through POTRAZ (Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe).

With this licensing, Starlink is now set to transform internet access for many Zimbabweans, particularly in remote and underserved areas where traditional internet infrastructure has been lacking.

Starlink operates by deploying a constellation of satellites in low Earth orbit, providing users with broadband service that aims to overcome the limitations of terrestrial connections. The benefits are expected to extend to various sectors, including education, business, and health, enabling users to enjoy improved access to online resources, remote work opportunities, and efficient communication channels.

Zimbabweans can now access the Starlink service via [starlink.com/zv/map](https://starlink.com/zv/map), where they can check availability and learn more about subscription options.

As the implementation of this service unfolds, it is hoped that Starlink will play a crucial role in bridging the digital divide in Zimbabwe, promoting economic growth, and enriching the lives of its citizens in an increasingly connected world.

For further updates on Starlink's operations in Zimbabwe, keep an eye on the official Starlink channels and local news outlets.
