Renowned poet and actor, Dr Gasolo (Prince Ncube), has embarked on his annual Long Walk to Success, this year focused on raising awareness about drug and substance abuse.
The walk, which spans an impressive 160km from Gwanda to Bulawayo, aims to promote the creative voices of local artists and advocate for the rights and protection of vulnerable populations.
Speaking to BANO NEWS, Dr Gasolo reported that the journey was progressing well, having left home today, 12 September 2024, at 06:00 and arrived in Gwanda town by 12:00.
"I'm currently at Miracle Records studios, where I received a warm welcome. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (Gwanda Rural) have been checking up on me along the way and are fully supporting the Walk," Dr Gasolo said.
Dr Gasolo's Long Walk to Success is a testament to his dedication to using his creative platform to make a positive impact on society. The walk seeks to contribute to comprehensive awareness and advocacy on drug and substance abuse, promoting the protection of creatives' voices on vulnerable populations.
This year's event also aims to increase access to information on drug and substance abuse, promote the full utilization of creatives' voices on rights, protection of information, and services by citizens, and increase creatives' participation and monitoring on issues affecting communities.
As Dr Gasolo continues his remarkable journey, BANO NEWS will provide updates on his progress. We wish him all the best as he takes on this challenging but vital endeavor to raise awareness about drug and substance abuse.
