249 CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS GRADUATE FROM PRESTIGIOUS VIP PROTECTION COURSE

In a milestone ceremony, 249 correctional officers graduated from the prestigious VIP Protection course, marking a significant milestone in their careers.

 The event was graced by the presence of Deputy Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Honorable Norbert Muzungunye, as the guest of honor.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Muzungunye commended the collaborative efforts between the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) and the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in facilitating the course. He stressed the importance of this partnership, stating that it marked a shift in responsibilities, with ZPCS now providing protection for judiciary officials.

Commissioner General of ZPCS, Dr Moses Cyril Ngawaite Chihobvu, expressed confidence in the graduates, emphasizing the comprehensive nature of the six-week training program. He assured that the course had equipped participants with a robust understanding of VIP Protection, despite its relatively short duration.

The Commissioner General also stressed the importance of unity amongst uniformed forces and warned against the dangers of drug and substance abuse. Furthermore, he highlighted ZPCS's commitment to promoting gender equality, citing the presence of women among the graduates as a testament to the organization's gender policy.

The graduation ceremony marked a significant step forward in enhancing the country's security landscape, with the collaborative efforts between ZPCS and ZRP serving as a positive example of inter-agency cooperation.
