South African Airways (SAA) has announced a significant increase in its flight frequency between Johannesburg and Harare, Zimbabwe, in response to growing demand.
Starting from 5 November 2024, the airline will increase its weekly flights on this popular route from 10 to 12, providing passengers with two additional options for travel.
The announcement comes as part of SAA’s broader densification strategy aimed at meeting increased customer demand within the Southern African region. The enhanced service is expected to benefit frequent travelers, particularly Zimbabwean expatriates, tourists, and businesses operating between the two countries.
For passengers flying out of Harare, SAA now offers the following options:
- SA 25: Departs Harare at 07:20, arriving in Johannesburg at 09:00 (operating Monday to Friday).
- SA23: Departs Harare at 12:25, arriving in Johannesburg at 14:05 (daily service).
Travellers departing Johannesburg to Harare can now choose from:
- *SA22*: Departs Johannesburg at 10:00, arriving in Harare at 11:35 (daily).
- *SA24*: Departs Johannesburg at 20:10, arriving in Harare at 21:45 (operating Sunday to Thursday).
SAA attributes the increased demand to a rise in travel by Zimbabwean expatriates, coupled with a surge in tourism and trade between the two nations. With Zimbabwe’s political environment stabilizing, SAA expects these trends to strengthen, making the route even more essential for both leisure and business travel.
The airline’s increased presence on the Johannesburg-Harare route is anticipated to support not only personal travel but also the growing economic ties between South Africa and Zimbabwe.
