Today, the Victory Siyanqoba Trust, directed by Tilbert Nkosi Moyo, hosted a successful Youth Climate Change Workshop at the Nazarene Church in Nkulumane.
The event was part of the ongoing Bulawayo Climate Champions Initiative project, spearheaded by Thulani Muzenda, the project coordinator and a member of the Trust.
The project is funded by the Bulawayo City Council's Youth Climate Action Fund, with support from Bloomberg Philanthropies. This funding has enabled the implementation of key initiatives aimed at raising awareness and equipping communities to tackle climate change.
In partnership with the Environmental Management Agency (EMA), the workshop attracted a significant number of youths eager to engage in meaningful conversations about climate change. EMA facilitated the event, providing expert insights on sustainable practices, waste management, and renewable energy solutions.
Speaking after the event, Thulani Muzenda highlighted the importance of involving young people in climate action.
“This initiative aims to empower the youth with the knowledge and skills needed to tackle climate change challenges. The high turnout today is a testament to their willingness to step up as climate champions in their communities,” Muzenda said.
Director Tilbert Nkosi Moyo emphasized the Trust's dedication to addressing environmental issues through community-driven initiatives like the Bulawayo Climate Champions Initiative.
The workshop concluded with a call to action, encouraging participants to implement the lessons learned and promote environmental stewardship. Victory Siyanqoba Trust and EMA reaffirmed their commitment to fostering a sustainable future through continued collaboration and grassroots engagement.
