PLANET Kadder Academy in partnership with Gwanda Municipality and the Ministry of Youths, Sports, Arts and Recreation are set to launch an anti drugs awareness campaign dubbed "Kusile MaJahunda Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign".

The campaign is set to be launched on the 12th May at the Gwanda Municipality main  park.

"Kusile MaJahunda Anti Drug Campaign" is set to educate the community of Gwanda about the types of illegal drugs being abused by youths ,causes, effects and possible solutions to end drug and substance abuse.

The campaign will create platforms for dialogue on drug and substance abuse, as well as facilitating the counseling and rehabilitation of affected individuals.

Speaking to BANO NEWS, the Planet Kadder Academy Founder and Director, Kadder said:

"Drugs and substance abuse is on the rise in Zimbabwe and the community of Gwanda is highly affected as well.It is affecting every one.School going children, the youth, adults, prostitutes, prisoners are abusing drugs due to various socioeconomic reasons. The community needs to be sensitised on the effects of drug and substance abuse, support groups have to be created for those struggling to go back to normal. We need to clean our town and help the youth reclaim their future", said Kadder.

She also added that:

"The future of Gwanda and Zimbabwe as a whole is thus at stake. Some of the negative effects of drug and substance abuse include family disintegration, lower passrates, cultural decadence, gender based violence, teenage pregnancies, depression, suicide, physical, emotional and sexual abuse as well as an increase in HIV/AIDS cases amongst others hence the need for a collective approach to end it".

"According to His Excellency President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa's National Youth Day Celebrations speech, while the youth of yesterday took up arms, today the youth must use their skills and talents to accelerate the growth of our economy. Thus Planet Kadder Academy rides on the National Youth Day celebrations theme 'Drug and Substance Abuse,a threat to Vision 2030,every community's responsibility' and proudly presents  the Kusile MaJahunda Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign," she added .
