The highly anticipated MaPressa Glam and Fashion Show is set to make its debut in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, this summer. The event, which has been running successfully in South Africa, will take place on October 4, 2025, at the Mpala Events Conference Centre.
Founder Promise Sibanda, popularly known as DJ Mapressa told, BANO NEWS that they brought the event to Bulawayo after noticing a significant number of participants from the city and surrounding areas attending the event in South Africa.
"We had participants from Bulawayo attending our previous events in South Africa, and some even won awards. Our 2024 winner was from Plumtree, and that's when I realized the potential and interest in this event from our people," said Sibanda.
The MaPressa Glam and Fashion Show is a unique event that focuses on the best-dressed participants, with no joining fee required. Participants only pay an entry fee, and those who wish to compete can showcase their dress on stage. The event's concept is to provide a platform for individuals who are not celebrities or artists to shine and express themselves through fashion.
The event has gained popularity in South Africa, with the recent 2025 edition seeing winners walk away with impressive prizes, including R10,500, scholarships to study fashion and design, & beauty and therapy course. The prizes for the Bulawayo competition will be announced in due course.
Andrea the Vocalist, known for his hit gospel song "Uhambo" featuring Aubrey Qwana, will be performing live at the Bulawayo edition.
Sibanda added that the response from the Bulawayo audience will determine the future of the event in the city.
"If the people from home welcome us and show their interest in the event, we'll come back bigger and better next year. However, if the response is poor, we'll continue hosting our event in South Africa."
With its focus on fashion, glamour, and self-expression, the MaPressa Glam and Fashion Show is set to be a highlight of the Bulawayo social calendar.
