Manicaland Gears Up to Host Sanganai/Hlanganani Kumbanayi Tourism Expo 2025

By MKHOKHELI ZIBENGWA

The picturesque province of Manicaland is set to take center stage as Zimbabwe’s premier tourism showcase, the Sanganai/Hlanganani Kumbanayi Tourism Expo 2025, heads east for the first time in its history.

Scheduled for 10–12 September at the Mutare Sports Club, the event is expected to draw hundreds of local and international exhibitors, buyers, and tourism enthusiasts.

In preparation for the landmark event, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Barbara Rwodzi convened a high-level stakeholders meeting at Queen’s Hall in Mutare, where she urged provincial leaders and local businesses to work in unison to elevate the province’s tourism profile. She was joined by Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Advocate Misheck Mugadza and Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Hon. Tongai Mnangagwa.

“This is Manicaland’s moment,” said Minister Rwodzi. “We must showcase our hospitality and innovation. Let us maintain clean, inviting facilities—from hotels to private homes—and make sure every visitor experiences the warmth and beauty of the Eastern Highlands.”

She also stressed the need for players in the tourism value chain to remit the mandatory 2% tourism levy, which she said was vital for the continued growth and sustainability of the sector.

To bolster the province’s readiness, government is rolling out a raft of infrastructure upgrades, including work on Mutare’s road network, public amenities, the Mutare Sports Club, and Grand Reef Aerodrome, which will improve access to the city and enhance the visitor experience.

Known for its misty mountains, lush valleys, and vibrant cultural heritage, Manicaland—particularly the Eastern Highlands—is expected to wow guests from across the globe.

The 2025 edition of the Expo, now rebranded with the inclusive theme “Kumbanayi” (Come Together), promises to be more than an exhibition—it’s a celebration of Zimbabwe’s rich tourism tapestry, and Manicaland is ready to shine.
