By MKHOKHELI ZIBENGWA

The African football fraternity has been plunged into mourning following the untimely death of former Zimbabwe Warriors and Orlando Pirates striker, Tendai Ndoro.

He was reportedly found dead at his apartment in South Africa, sending shockwaves across the sporting community.

Ndoro, who rose to fame with his clinical finishing and commanding presence in front of goal, leaves behind a rich legacy in both domestic and international football. He starred for clubs across Zimbabwe, South Africa, and the Middle East, including Chicken Inn, Orlando Pirates, Al-Faisaly, Ajax Cape Town, and Highlands Park.

On the international stage, Ndoro proudly donned the Warriors jersey, making 14 appearances and scoring 5 goals between 2013 and 2017. His memorable strikes and relentless determination made him a fan favourite at home and abroad.

Affectionately known as “Fire”, Ndoro’s talent and charisma made him one of the most exciting forwards of his generation. Even in recent years, he had hinted at reigniting his career, with reports linking him to a comeback in Eswatini with Stumbo’s XI,  a move that had stirred hope among his loyal supporters.

The cause of his death remains unclear, but tributes have already begun pouring in from fellow players, fans, and clubs who remember him not only as a gifted striker but also as a larger-than-life character who inspired many.

Ndoro’s passing marks the end of an era for Zimbabwean football, and his contribution to the beautiful game will not be forgotten.
