Tendai Chiraya, the dynamic chairperson of the Zimbabwe Council Of Copyrights (ZICCO), has once again made headlines in the local music industry with the announcement of his 2025 double album project, “Sei Zvichidaro” and “Tindo Chiraya and Friends.”
This marks the second consecutive year that Chiraya has released back-to-back double albums, following the success of “Makakanganisa” and “Ndezvenyasha” in 2024 — a rare achievement that further cements his position as one of Zimbabwe’s most consistent and innovative artists.
The two new albums feature collaborations with 10 talented artists from the ZICCO stable, including board member Harmonie Mazhindu and renowned musician George Zharry Chembe. Chiraya continues to refine his distinctive fusion of Sungura and Rhumba rhythms — a style he proudly calls “Sungura Classic” — blending deep emotional storytelling with vibrant, danceable beats.
Speaking at the album launch, Chiraya expressed gratitude to ZICCO’s leadership team for their continued support.
“I’m deeply thankful to our CEO, Dr Tafadzwa Masembura, and to Sir Dickson Mhizha for their unwavering support and prayers throughout this journey,” he said.
“These albums are a celebration of collaboration, resilience, and faith.”
Chiraya’s musical journey began in 2021 with his debut album “Chenjedzo,” followed by “Kwakatsva” in 2022 and “Mwari Wenyaasha” in 2023. His steady progression over the years reflects a remarkable commitment to artistic excellence and cultural preservation.
With a series of live performances lined up across Zimbabwe’s ten provinces, the ZICCO chairperson promises an unforgettable festive season for his fans. Each show is expected to showcase not only his new material but also highlight the rich talent within the ZICCO network.
As Chiraya continues to bridge creativity and leadership, music enthusiasts and industry watchers alike are eager to witness the next chapter of his evolving legacy. With his trademark “Sungura Classic” sound and collaborative spirit, Tindo Chiraya remains a driving force in shaping Zimbabwe’s contemporary music scene.
