Thousands of people gathered today at Heritage Village in Harare for the 2025 SADC Anti-Sanctions Solidarity Summit, a day dedicated to reaffirming regional unity and calling for the removal of sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe.

The event, attended by regional delegates, government officials, and citizens from across the country, will conclude later this evening with a Music Gala celebrating resilience, peace, and African solidarity.

In his address to the crowd, President Emmerson Mnangagwa emphasized the negative impact of illegal sanctions on Zimbabwe’s economic growth, while expressing confidence in the nation’s capacity to rise above adversity through self-reliance.

“Illegal sanctions have hindered us from securing international funds. However, the government has put in place home-grown solutions to self-fund our country,” said President Mnangagwa.

He further reaffirmed Zimbabwe’s diplomatic stance and vision for a prosperous future.

“Zimbabwe’s victory is certain. We remain resolute in our commitment to uphold international law. We are friends to all and enemies to none. We call for reinforced engagement. We have since moved to secure a seat in the UN Council,” he added.

During the summit, President Mnangagwa also launched a new book titled *Standing Against Illegal Sanctions: Resistance, Policy Innovations and Advocacy*, which chronicles Zimbabwe’s journey of resilience, innovation, and advocacy in the face of economic restrictions.

The SADC Anti-Sanctions Day, first proclaimed in 2019, continues to serve as a reminder of the regional bloc’s collective stance against sanctions and its unwavering support for Zimbabwe’s sovereignty and economic independence.

The day’s proceedings are expected to culminate in a vibrant Music Gala later tonight, celebrating unity, culture, and the enduring spirit of the Zimbabwean people.
