ZICCO Sets Date for 2025 Annual General Meeting

By MKHOKHELI ZIBENGWA

The Zimbabwe Council of Copyrights (ZICCO) has announced that its 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on November 22, 2025, in Bulawayo, with the specific venue to be revealed soon.

The announcement follows a Board meeting held in Harare, where ZICCO’s leadership met to review the organization’s progress and deliberate on key matters affecting the creative and copyright sectors in Zimbabwe.

According to the resolutions passed during the meeting, the forthcoming AGM will bring together creators, copyright holders, and industry stakeholders to reflect on the Council’s activities over the past year, discuss policy issues, and chart the way forward for the protection and promotion of intellectual property rights.

Preparations for the event are already underway, with details on the full program and confirmed venue expected to be released in the coming weeks.

ZICCO, which serves as a key institution in promoting and protecting copyright interests in Zimbabwe, has been instrumental in advocating for fair compensation and recognition of artists, authors, and creators across various industries.

This year's AGM is expected to attract wide participation from across the country, as stakeholders anticipate new strategies to boost copyright awareness and enforcement.

Confirming the development, ZICCO Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Tafadzwa Masembura, said the upcoming AGM will also serve as an elective gathering.

“This year’s AGM is particularly significant as it will be elective. Musicians and other members will have the opportunity to choose who will represent their interests on the new board,” said Dr. Masembura. “The platform also strengthens engagement and accountability, ensuring that the voices of our members shape the future of copyright management in Zimbabwe.”
