For South African based businessman and property developer Timothy Mncube, success is not just about accumulating wealth, but about transforming lives and communities.

From humble beginnings in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, Mncube has risen to become the Chief Executive Officer of ALW Investments (Pty) Ltd and TeemTeems Trading CC, while also leading as President of the Zimbabwe African National Congress (ZANC).

His companies are active in property development, gold mining, construction, and diversified investments across Southern Africa, with expanding interests in Zimbabwe’s gold mining sector. But at the heart of his work lies a deeper purpose, impact and nation-building.

“I was inspired by a desire to make a tangible difference, both in people’s lives and in the built environment,” Mncube said.

“Coming from humble beginnings, I witnessed how access to housing, jobs, and education can transform communities. Business, for me, is about impact, not just profit.”

Like many entrepreneurs, Mncube started his journey with limited capital. What he lacked in money, he made up for in vision, faith, and discipline.

“Starting small is possible when you have integrity and consistency,” he explained. “I reinvested every profit back into the business and built trust through honesty and hard work. Once people trust your character and your work ethic, they’ll invest in your dream.”

Today, his business portfolio continues to grow across multiple industries, employing and empowering people in both South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Mncube believes that genuine opportunities in business lie in solving real problems.

“True opportunities solve real challenges. I look for gaps where communities are struggling, be it a lack of affordable housing, infrastructure, or supply. When your idea adds value and meets a real need, it endures,” he said.

He emphasizes the importance of research, staying informed, and building networks that help entrepreneurs see beyond the obvious.

With his journey stretching from Bulawayo to Johannesburg, Mncube is a strong believer in Africa’s potential to rise through innovation and self-belief.

“Africa remains one of the most promising regions in the world,” he said. “To the youth and those in the diaspora, believe in your potential and believe in Africa. Start small, stay consistent, and don’t wait for perfect conditions; create them.”

Despite challenges such as limited access to capital, policy uncertainty, and bureaucracy, Mncube’s resilience and adaptability have kept him focused.

“Resilience and credibility are your greatest assets. Every challenge taught me to think smarter, work harder, and lead better,” he reflected.

Mncube is vocal about the need for transparent systems that support young entrepreneurs in both Zimbabwe and South Africa.

“Governments must create systems that reward merit and innovation, not political loyalty,” he urged. “Corruption and tribalism weaken nations, but fairness, unity, and accountability can build them.”

He advocates for mentorship programs, simplified business registration, and access to funding for start-ups as practical steps toward empowering the next generation.

Looking ahead, Mncube is optimistic about the next five years for Zimbabwe and the Southern African region.

“We have the talent and resources to transform our nations. With innovation, good governance, and cooperation, I see a future where young people lead industries and investors return home,” he said.

Born and raised in Bulawayo, Mncube attended Nyamande Primary School and Lobengula Secondary School before venturing into business. His leadership style blends entrepreneurship with a passion for community empowerment and youth mentorship.

“True leadership is about service,” he emphasized. “My vision is to see a prosperous, united, and transformed Zimbabwe — built on integrity, innovation, and opportunity for all.”
