The National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) today officially launched the 24th edition of the National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA), announcing that the event will take place on 28 February 2026 under the management of newly appointed organizers, Scarlet Studios and Events Evolution.
Speaking at a press conference held at the NACZ Head Office, Director of Arts Promotion and Development, Barbara Gotore, described NAMA as the country’s premier platform for honoring creative excellence.
“For over two decades, NAMA has celebrated the achievements of Zimbabwean artists. It is our way of saying to them: ‘We see you, we value you, and we are proud of you,’” she said.
Gotore encouraged Zimbabwean artists to submit original works created between 1 December 2024 and 30 November 2025.
“NAMA emphasizes originality. Only works produced within this period will qualify. Reproductions or older works will be disqualified. Submission is open to all Zimbabwean nationals and residents, whether or not they are registered with NACZ,” she explained.
The deadline for entries is 30 November 2025, with physical submissions closing at 4:30 p.m. and online submissions closing at midnight. Online entries must include supporting materials or downloadable links sent to namasubmissions@gmail.com, while physical submissions require three supporting materials unless reproduction is impossible.
Assuring the public of a transparent and credible adjudication process, Gotore noted that experienced professionals from various artistic disciplines will serve as adjudicators. She also announced that Alinial Chartered Accountants will act as independent auditors to guarantee the integrity of the awards.
Calling on stakeholders to support the event, Gotore said: “Corporate partners, media, and the public are all part of this celebration. Your involvement ensures that NAMA remains a true showcase of Zimbabwe’s creative spirit.”
The 24th NAMA promises a night of glamour, unforgettable performances, and recognition for Zimbabwe’s most talented artists, solidifying its place as the pinnacle of the nation’s cultural calendar.
