Thaluso Moyo Pindi, popularly known as Thaluso Da Poet, says he is deeply grateful following his nomination for the Bulawayo Arts Awards, one of the country’s most prestigious arts recognitions.
“Firstly, I’m so grateful to be nominated on one of the biggest, if not the biggest, Arts Awards in the land,” he said.
He also congratulated his fellow nominees, including Um’Africakazi, Sonkomose, and We Create Africa.
“To be nominated gave me hope and encouragement that our creative work and agenda of creative advocacy through edutainment is making a difference. Sometimes we do our work not so sure whether it reaches where it is supposed to. I’m so happy that somehow it does,” Thaluso added.
The nomination comes with a mix of emotions for the poet, particularly following the passing of Desire Moyo, popularly known as Moyoxide, under whose ideation he had worked.
“In my life, I never thought that I would be nominated in an award category that honours Moyoxide because he is no more. It was always a dream to get to such a level… But when we were there, it still feels like a dream, which then creates mixed emotions. It’s not an easy one to swallow,” he said.
Thaluso described the nomination as a source of inspiration to continue his work and carry on Moyoxide’s legacy. “I hope to be able to carry on with this poetry and also carry on with the legacy of Moyoxide by finishing the projects that were on the queue,” he said, referencing the upcoming poetry video and albums that are in progress.
For Thaluso, the nomination is not just recognition of his work, but affirmation that his creative voice is reaching and making an impact.
