The City of Bulawayo has scooped seven awards at the Gender Links SADC Protocol @Work Summit and Awards 2025 held in Harare, reaffirming its commitment to gender equality and inclusive community development.
Bulawayo participated in this year’s summit with a delegation of 12 representatives, selected from 389 applicants and 189 final participants drawn from across the region.
The City submitted entries in several categories, including Centres of Excellence (COE) Institutional, COE Gender Responsive Budgeting, Local Economic Development (LED) Flagship, LED Individual, Drivers of Change, Climate Justice, Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights, Gender-Based Violence, and Youth Leadership.
Bulawayo emerged as a top performer, collecting awards in the following categories:

City officials described the achievement as a milestone that reflects the ongoing efforts to mainstream gender across municipal programmes and strengthen community-focused initiatives.
The awards position Bulawayo among leading local authorities in the SADC region championing gender-responsive governance.
