Joanette Ngwenya a student from Dominican Convent in Bulawayo has defied the odds by scooping a special Award in the category of robotics and intelligent machines at International Science and Engineering Fair(ISEF) in the United States of America.
Ngwenya came first in Zimbabwe before going to the world finals in USA were she showcased her ground breaking sign language interpreter and came first place in an esteemed section sponsored by the King of Saudi Arabia, King Abdulaziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity.
Speaking to BANO NEWS, the Dominican Convent High School, Bulawayo Headmistress Sister Rose Rushwaya O.P said they are overwhelmed with pride and joy as they ecstatically announce that Joanette has done it again.
"Wow! She has soared and achieved greater than what we could have imagined. We are overjoyed. Congratulations Joanette!"
"Beyond our borders, representing more than just our school but our very country and continent-she has come first place in an esteemed section. We have our sister school where this project the first of its kind will be so very much appreciated by Emerald Hill School for the Deaf",she said.
The ISEF is the World's biggest science competition where the world's top young scientists compete for over $15 million in Awards and scholarships.
