Bulawayo Mayor His Worship Senator David Coltart today received a special artwork from two local visual artists, Mthokozisi Khumalo and Zwelani Ndebele, in recognition of the ongoing transformation and renewed momentum in the city’s development.

The artwork, titled “Echoes of Change: Whispers of a City’s Hope,” was presented to the Mayor as a gesture of appreciation for what the artists described as the visible development and progress taking place across Bulawayo.

Khumalo and Ndebele said they were inspired by the positive changes evident in service delivery, urban renewal efforts, and the strengthened sense of civic pride among residents. They felt compelled to honour the Mayor with a piece that captures both the spirit of the moment and the hopes of the community.

The artwork symbolically represents renewal, responsibility, and hope — values the artists believe mirror the collective aspirations of Bulawayo and its people. They described it as a visual reflection of a city embracing change while holding firmly to its identity.

Mayor Coltart expressed gratitude for the gesture, noting that the contribution of local creatives plays an important role in shaping the city’s cultural story and celebrating progress.

The presentation highlights the growing synergy between the arts community and the city’s leadership, united by a shared vision for a modern, vibrant, and forward-moving Bulawayo.
