The Nkulumane Constituency Development Committee (NCDC) has announced the postponement of the highly anticipated Meet-the-Candidates Town Hall Meeting, which was initially scheduled for Sunday, 7 December 2025.

The event will now take place on 10 December 2025 at Nkulumane Hall, beginning at 9AM.

The community-driven platform is designed to give residents of Nkulumane an opportunity to directly engage with all parliamentary candidates contesting in the forthcoming by-election. The by-election follows the passing of Nkulumane legislator Desire Moyo on 10 October.

According to the NCDC, the Town Hall Meeting will allow candidates to outline their policy positions, present their manifestos, and share development plans for Nkulumane. Residents will also have the chance to ask questions in what organisers describe as a transparent, structured and citizen-focused environment.

The following candidates have been invited to participate:

  • Esther Auxillia Zitha (Independent)

  • Ethel Sibanda (MDC-T)

  • Nompilo Ncube Malaba (ZANC)

  • Alson Moyo (Zimbabwe Economic Freedom Fighters – EFF)

  • Rodney Donovan Jele (Independent)

  • Mbuso Fuzwayo (Independent)

  • Freedom Murechu (ZANU PF)

  • Mothusi Ndlovu (CCC)

  • Siziba Viyo Vivian (ZAPU)

The event is being organised by the NCDC under the leadership of chairman Andrew Ndlovu, in collaboration with the Bulawayo Progressive Residents Association (BPRA), Centre for Innovation and Technology (CITE) and the Election Resource Centre (ERC). The organising team is also working closely with local “square leaders” to ensure broad mobilisation across Wards 22 and 23.

The NCDC says the Town Hall is aimed at promoting an informed electorate by equipping residents with clarity on each candidate’s priorities, competencies and development agenda. The format is intentionally community-centric, with a focus on strengthening citizen-led democracy and fostering active participation in local governance.

The Committee encouraged residents to attend in large numbers, emphasising that meaningful engagement is key to shaping Nkulumane’s future leadership.
