Police in Bulawayo have confirmed two separate murder cases that occurred in Magwegwe North and Cowdray Park earlier this month.

The first incident happened on 6 November 2025 at around 22:00 hours. Mongiwethu Godknows Dube, a 26-year-old from Magwegwe North, was walking with friends when an encounter with Keith Dube, who splashed beer on them, escalated. The following morning at approximately 04:00, Mongiwethu Dube and a friend went to Keith Dube’s residence, forcibly removed him, and assaulted him. During the altercation, a man identified as Nkosi intervened, producing a bayonet and stabbing Mongiwethu Dube in the right thigh and head. The victim was later found near Magwegwe North Shopping Centre, rushed to Mpilo Hospital, and died the same day.

The second murder occurred on 7 December 2025 at around 12:00 hours in Cowdray Park. Zibusiso Tshuma, a 22-year-old, was drinking with an 18-year-old friend at a local tuck shop when they were confronted by three armed men—Henry, Gil, and an unidentified individual—carrying axes. The victims tried to flee but were chased down. Zibusiso was struck repeatedly with axes, sustaining fatal injuries. His body was taken to the mortuary pending post-mortem.

Bulawayo police have urged residents to resolve disputes peacefully and avoid carrying dangerous weapons.
