Ward 22 Councillor Mmeli Bruce Moyo has been recognised at the SADC Protocol @Work Summit for his innovative efforts to empower youth and young women in Nkulumane, Bulawayo.
Moyo’s project, the Ubuntu Network Community Initiative, stood out during a highly competitive pitch session involving local authorities from across Zimbabwe. The initiative aims to create employment opportunities, promote meaningful youth participation in governance, and ensure that young people are active co-creators of solutions to local challenges.
Speaking about the achievement, Councillor Moyo said, “Our initiative seeks to address the lived realities of young people by creating employment opportunities, promoting meaningful youth participation in governance processes, and, most importantly, ensuring that young people become co-creators and drivers of local solutions to local problems.”
The recognition highlights the importance of African solutions to African problems, underscoring the role of local leadership in fostering youth engagement and community development.
