Nash Holdings founder and businessman Tinashe Mutarisi has announced the immediate shutdown of Nash TV, bringing an end to one of Zimbabwe’s most influential entertainment platforms of the post-Covid era.

Mutarisi made the announcement through an official social media post on Tuesday, confirming that the company would be discontinuing all entertainment operations conducted under the Nash TV brand.

The decision marks the closure of a platform that rose to prominence during the Covid-19 lockdowns, a period that saw Nash Lockdown shows evolve into a fully fledged digital entertainment channel.

In his statement, Mutarisi highlighted that although music and entertainment were never part of the group’s long-term corporate strategy, Nash TV played a significant role in shaping Zimbabwe’s modern creative landscape.

He acknowledged the platform’s contribution to the rise of several artists, including Saintfloew, Nisha Ts, Raymer and Ninety6, who all benefitted from NashTV’s marketing, promotional, and management support. Mutarisi expressed pride in having amplified local talent and strengthened the country’s creative sector during a challenging period for the arts industry.

According to the announcement, all artists previously managed under Nash Holdings have been formally informed of the transition. While Nash Holdings is stepping away from direct artist management, Mutarisi stated that the company will continue offering advisory support to help artists establish their own studios and secure new professional management for the next stage of their careers.

Mutarisi concluded his message by thanking supporters of the NashTV journey and reaffirming the company’s renewed focus on entrepreneurship development and supporting Zimbabwean enterprise.

The shutdown of NashTV marks the end of a transformative chapter in local digital entertainment, with many in the creative industry crediting the platform for revolutionising online music promotion in Zimbabwe.
